EVE Search - Farming complexes

I got into a 3/10 complex straight after DT today - there was nobody in local, so I was definitely first in. Over 5 hours later, I'm still waiting to get a re-spawn for a key that I'm told gets me to the last part of the complex, and the possibility of a BPC. Are people really farming these instead of doing level 4 missions because surely for the time I've wasted today so far, I'd have been way better off just paying the 45M (current escrow price) for a vigilant bpc?
